Job Description: Student will facilitate IMA's annual summer Public Art Gallery program in conjunction with its summer School of the Arts and ArtsWells Festival. Assist in organizing and facilitating Art School and ArtsWells Festival related events at the gallery, such as receptions, artists' talks, concerts and performances, workshops, readings, and barbeques. Work with artists and assist with curation and hanging of exhibits and displays. Research/solicit new works for gift shop, liaise with artisans, manage gift shop consignment, do daily cashout and housekeeping. Assist in the preparation of press releases and other marketing strategies. Greet and provide assistance to gallery/gift shop visitors. Assist with all aspects of daily office duties such as answering phones, emails, filing, photocopying, etc., and other duties as assigned.

• Student will assist in all aspects of course registrations and information requests: process payments, maintain registration binder;
• Assist in managing the IMA database: process information requests, registrations, memberships, donations, and reporting on all related information;
• Assist in managing the Wells-Barkerville School facility for the duration of the Summer School: liaise with instructors and students, ensure facility access, provide supplies and equipment, prepare (and tear-down) classrooms for workshop use;
• Maintain Canteen: deliver supplies, manage inventory, daily cleaning, collect donations; Prepare, deliver, collect and tabulate the student course evaluations;
• Manage IMA- outreach and communications, including:
o Create Student Welcome Packages
o Coordinate student Welcome Receptions;

- Compile and layout information for the festival program guide
- Create in-house posters to promote to local community

• Research and develop ways to co-market with Barkerville, Bowron Lakes- Work with ArtsWells Artists: Liase with artists and develop bios, Compile information for festival program, Liaise with performers and community members in order to develop story lines for press releases and articles
• Generate and maintain positive image of IMA and ArtsWells in the community, provide input and collect feedback
• Liaise with regional organizations (i.e. Billy Barker Days Festival, Bulkley Valley Music Festival etc.); Create database of Community Organizations info (i.e. schedule of events and meetings, projects, contacts)
• Update mailing list, collect members through initiatives (such as contests or link on website)
• Liaise with media and give interviews on behalf of the festival
• Maintain relevant information in Database

| JOB DESCRIPTION
Organize materials for concerts, liaison with musicians, arrange for accommodation, meals, and advertise on radio and media. Promote café and its role during the summer events held by other organizations (such as Artswells, IMA courses, Barkerville and Sunset Theatre events. These activities will be supplemented by training in the café in management, hosting and financial keeping.
We are looking for someone with a moderately high degree of computer literacy, who is, or can learn to liase with media, businesses, and the public in a friendly and supportive manner, while promoting the best interests of the Café. When artists perform here, or when events are hosted in town, you will be required to pre-promote by news release, telephone and media interviews, liaise with artists or event co-coordinators to help make the events successful and to advance the role of the Bear’s Paw in these events.
This is a full time position, so some of your time will also be spent helping in the daily operation of our café and gift store. This means that the successful applicant will swing back and forth between their role as event co-coordinator, and sales and support staff at the Bear’s Paw. Your duties will also include filling the normal roles in a food service/gift establishment including serving customers, sales, food preparation, cleaning and other daily routines.
As well, we are an information and service hub, so your time is also spent assisting customers and supplying information on hiking, mining and canoe tours, and directing customers/tourists to information regarding Wells, Barkerville and Bowron Lakes.
June to September, 2008 - $10/hr plus tips.
Additional prospective employee assets (desirable but not mandatory)

| JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful applicant will work at the Frog on the Bog Gift Store in Wells, BC. You will be involved in retail sales in an eclectic gift store which sells everything from environmentally conscious clothing to gold nugget jewelry, gifts, and souvenirs. Our main store themes are the outdoors, the region and natural products. In addition, we pride ourselves on being the center of information about events, and activities in the region. We are an information and service hub, so your time is also spent assisting customers and supplying information on hiking, mining and canoe tours, and directing customers/tourists to information regarding Wells, Barkerville and Bowron Lakes. As well, we specifically sponsor a few key events each year (eg. 7 Summits Bike and Hike Challenge). You will also become involved the development of a new tour product we are developing this year, our gold mine tours. You will educate guests about the regional gold mining history, be involved in pouring of actual gold bars and eventually lead interpretive tours to working gold mines. You will liaise with other businesses in the community and communicate to the media about event schedules. The storefront tour location will also require the employee handles sounvenirs, and merchandise sales, and security of gold and other merchandise.
Expect your duties to vary widely over the course of the week as events, tours, talks, and sales vary throughout the season. This Job starts mid-June and goes to September, depending on availability. Starting wage is $10/hr. Full time hours.
